Lazy
I am being really lazy this break. I probably need it.
I am reading several things at once. The Study in Scarlet by Arthur Conan Doyle (darned Sherlock Holmes movie made me want to read it) as did, The Adventures of Arthur Conan Doyle (a bio of the man himself). I’m also reading Stephen Fry’s America (companion book to a show he did for the BBC), and The Man Who Loved Books Too Much (about rare book collecting and book thievery. I’ve also started Sacred Scars, a YA book. I have a ton of books waiting my attention, and her I am typing, not reading–well then, off to read!

I used to love the Holmes series — what a good time to revisit it, with a cup of tea and a comfy chair in front of the wood stove! Do oyu have a nice place to hunker down in your house to read? Am still listening to the Number One Ladies’ Detective Agency onaudio so have to keep moving like shark, all day, just to read

Lord preserve us, Rosary, you’ve never read Sherlock Holmes?!? Good heavens, I’ve spent so many, many happy hours with Holmes and Watson.

I read every Sherlock Holmes book when I was 10. I loved them but I only remember a couple of them. I should reread them. How was the movie?

I enjoyed the movie, and as I was reading Study in Scarlet, I was surprised how much Guy Ritchie and crew got right. So many of the reviews I’ve read have complained about the action adventure parts of the movie, and as I was reading, I noticed disguises, fights, and a chase scene. The movie is what made me want to read Holmes again (I haven’t read the novels in ages!). Even the part about secret societies has roots in the books. All in all, the film rocks and fits the Holmes mythos
