Is it Kwanzaa now?

Saturday, December 27th, 2008

So Christmas went well. Everyone liked what they got, and we had the Christmas Eve gumbo leftovers–which means it was better the second time around.

I have tons od DVDs to watch when I treadmill thanks to the SIL.  I have the first seasons of NCIS (I recently fell in love with this show–thank you USA), CSI:NY (Gary Sinese is almost as good as William Peterson), and I now have dvds of the 2007 season of America’s Test Kitchen.  I have new ATC cookbooks for 2007 and 2008, and a bound collection of Cook’s Illustrated for 2007.  I also received some sweaters, some lovely squirrel and cat figures, and lovely Fenton glass vase, and art piece of a cat fairy (i shall have to take a picture).

Mike received an external hard drive, a dvd of a documentary about Hunter S Thompson, a box set of Hunter S. Thompson’s book notes on cd, a nice attache case, a lovely duvk pen, and a pocket watch.

SIL received a portable dvd player and case, a trenchcoat, a penguin bracelet, some cow pattern pjs, a lovely Disney statue.

My mom received a bird charm bracelet, a cardinal ornament, some metal bird statues, cds, and a trip to Arkansas ;-)

All in all, it has been nice–even the lousy weather cleared up for Christmas day.

Hope all of you enjoyed your holiday!

Merrrrry Chrrrristmas

Merry Christmas to everyone!  We are happy and busy and have oodles of present under the tree.  My mom and I have not killed each other, nor anyone else.

I have work to do, but it will wait until the holidays are over.

Now, I have cookies to bake and a Christmas Eve gumbo to cook.

May Santa bring you goodies and joy. (and less snow!)

Happy Birthday to me

Happy Birthday to me! I turn 43.

My mom is visiting for the holiday, so the house is full. I am still tired from the semester, and I am just feeling kind of tired.

Presents are being bought, wrapped, hidden.  We have no snow, but will probably have rain.

Presents for my birthday are a Lenox squirrel figurine, Julie Andrews autobiography, I Claudius on dvd, O’ Brother Where Art Thou, and a collection of Miss Marple stories, earrings, and nice necklace.

And now, onward to Christmas :-)
